Hello and a HUGE warm welcome to my blog

I’ve created this lovely corner of the internet to share my own journey. Life is busy, life is hard, life is unpredictable: us women have hormones, overwhelm, burnout, work, a social life, health, extended family and motherhood to deal with alongside many other spinning plates.

I live in Peterborough with my husband, two little boys and whippet who certainly keeps me very busy

I, like lots of people, set up my business Charlotte Makes during lockdown when I needed something to keep me from losing my absolute mind!!!

I am really passionate about personal growth, have always found joy in a deep conversation and find it so cathartic to share my ups and downs…which is handy because I’ve had a few…

I suffered a mental breakdown aged 25 which resulted in me leaving my teaching career, losing friends and cancelling my wedding

I have pmdd (pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder) which is a cyclical condition and can be completely debilitating at times

I was diagnosed with stage 3 skin cancer in 2021 after finding a lump in my boob. It was a scary time but I got through it #checkyourboobs

I suspect I may have an adhd brain (not the hyperactive type…the other one

)

why am I here writing this blog

If I can help just one other person to NOT feel alone then I have achieved something.

motherhood is lonely! running a small business is also lonely. Some days i don’t speak with any other human than my children

underneath all my other hats (mummy, wife, friend, daughter, sister, auntie etc) I am ME and I.AM.IMPORTANT

this blog acts a reminder for making time for me.

life is tough sometimes and we all need a safe space to have a bloody good moan.
